Rolling in to THE BRONX
Left P-town (Provo Town) Monday morning and arrived in NY Monday afternoon. Needless to say this is unreal. Also my preparation day is on Wednesday now so dont worry Im not breaking any rules!
I am SO glad to have finally settled into my apartment because lugging three suitcases totally around 130 lbs was not fun. When we left Monday morning there was a good like couple inches of snow and I'm not the strongest nor most coordinated person so my bags kept falling in the snow haha they got just slightlyyy wet. Right when we got off the train in the Bronx we had to walk up this huge hill for like half a mile (or so it felt like) to get to the subway to get to our apartment and there were so many people and stores and my trainer walks so fast and is like 5'10 so it was quite the workout carrying around my suitcases; nice little welcome to mission life haha literally ROLLING IN the Bronx
Yep you heard it right. I'm in the Bronx. Yeeeet so stoked. Not gonna lie when I first found out I was a bit like woah this is crazy. But its actually not too scary its actually a lot of fun! Especially being able to meet so many different people from all over and hear all these different languages and stories. Saw a few motorcycle gangs last night and it was sick. They just ride straight through red lights and do tricks. So sick. Lots of fun noises and sirens throughout the night hahah but we're in our apartments by 9pm so we're safe
My trainer is Sister Combe and shes from Draper, Utah and shes literally the funnest and chillest! We cover the West side of the Bronx so we're the West sisters (wessst side besssst side *cue W gang signs*).
5 Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not.
6 But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all his words. And thus it is.
Change is scary. Coming to the other side of the country and starting a new life can be scary especially when I have no idea what to expect. But I have been commanded to go and take the gospel to each of Gods children. Not only did God tell me I should go on a mission but I chose to be out here. Sometimes I do not know what the heck I am doing but I do know that he WILL prepare a way for his works to be accomplished. Change is scary but when we choose the walk the path with the Savior, I know change is and always will be good. I am so EXCITED to see what adventures I will have!
Me ke aloha,
Sister Ellis
