Happy New Yurr!!

Aloha family a me friends, Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!! Well. Had one of the fastest weeks of my mission to top off one of the fastest years of my life (so far ;). Was it because of Christmas Day? Then Boxing Day (yep official Bermudian holiday where you box up your leftovers and give them out)? Or President and Sister Teuscher coming down for vacation *oh I mean quarterly visit*? Who knows. Honestly. It was probably the triangle. Nothin' new lol.  Familiar family traditions in the holiday seasons of spending time with food and family in Hawaii, buying fireworks early on Dec 26, going semi-pyromaniac on Dec 31, pounding kalo...have been overshadowed by the root of all traditions. And that is: remembering Him.  A tradition is something repeated and has reason. The greatest tradition one can ever have and pass down unto future generations is that of remembering Christ. When tracing and studying the culture of our spiritual genealogy we come to realize that over and o

Idk how to say it in Tagalog...so Aloha Kalikimaka!!!

Cookies on cookies on cookies Aloha Kalikimaka ia ko'u 'ohana a me ko'u hoa aloha!! Seasons Greetings Friends   Just remember..you is kind, you is special, you is important, you sparkle like diamond in the sky. And if you are me serving in Bermuda, lots of people may even come up to you and tell you.."you filipina" or "you look uncommon" or "there's lots of Filipinos here, you could be from here". Haha. Yes. For some reason I got that all several times this week. I guess our Filipino blood runs strong (and I'm saying this for you Aunty Anela ;)  Anyways. Yes. We are each special, important, and can sparkle like diamonds in the sky. You know why? I'll tell you why, no worries. BECAUSE OF HIM. Because about 2018 years ago a babe was born and laid in a manger.  "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Coun

Picture of our church building Aloha familia y amigos!  How I love these "onions" of Bermy so much! Even if they tell us, missionaries, that if we go back to the states being able to fit the same clothes then they havent done their job of feeding. I mean who even knew that Bermudians existed? Certainly not I, until I came on a mission. But ah how I love them and am so grateful for this opportunity I have to serve alongside these people. Meet one of our members, Andrew! Such a kind and pure heart. I do not know the meaning of all things, but I do know that God loves His children. His son, Christ, is our shepherd and we can have our  "hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another"  (Mosiah 18:21). Our hearts are knit and bound by and through the love of Christ. His love and grace is sufficient for us all. His love expounds greater than any earthly sphere and provides the light we need to dispel darkness and fear.  As for His fold

Aloha family a me friends :)  *Call to Facebook Advertising Elders in NYNYC Mission Office* Me: "Sooo you're saying if we get a message in the middle of personal study or pday. We need to stop what we are doing and respond?" Facebook Advertising Elders: "Yep. The quicker, the better. You have what the want and need. The first thing you should do when you wake up is respond to messages".  What?  Yeah. So basically earlier this year an Elder in our mission started making ads targeting his proselyting area. Fast-forward to today. He and two other Elders are now piloting this new project. Early last week we got a call from these Elders telling us that President Teuscher trusts Sister Howells and I and wants to start Facebook ads in Bermuda! There is a handful of areas (16 or so) that are testing it out and we have to be super on it and on our accountability sheet because President Teuscher, the Missionary Department, and General Authoritie

Congrats to Shae and Janae :)  Aloha familia a me amigos ;)  Nope still don't speak Spanish. Don't get too excited over there. Lol.  Anyways! It's December! The sun is shinning, the work is progressing, miracles are being made, and as I told President in my interview last night via videocalling, despite numbers being not so high we're just "keeping the vibe alive" out here :)  THE most beautiful baptismal font in the world :)  Time time time. Timing is everything. Despite being on an island...we don't run on island time we run on the Lord's timing. With it being December (already holy cow), that's something that has been imprinted in my mind greatly lately. In a talk that President Teuscher has been having us read called "Jesus: The Perfect Leader" by President Spencer W. Kimball in August 1979 we learn:  "Wise time management is really the wise management of ourselves" .  Can I get an amen to that? Am

Remembering: Rastas & Animals & Rain! Oh my!

Aloha Family a me Friends, For those of you who were wondering, about 50 percent of the people here celebrate Thanksgiving and use it as a time to get together with family and friends. But since it isnt a Bermudian holiday, school and work were all still in session so generally it felt like a normal day - however, spiced up with a little more gratitude and love in the air and in our hearts :)  Thanksgiving! What a great reminder we have to not only be grateful this time of the year but to  "live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon"  us (Alma 34:38). The day before we had a "miracle line" or a conference call with the whole mission and President Teuscher shared with us something that has stuck with him since he was in high school. When asked what are you thankful for in a Sunday School lesson, one of his classmates said: "The Gift of Remembrance".  Wow. Isn't that true but isnt that something

Wouldn't It Be Nice?

Image
Setting up for the Relief Society Party! Look at the flowers we made Aloha family and friends! As the Beach Boys song goes: "Wouldn't it be nice if we..." du du du duh. Well. It would be nice if I could remember the words but at the moment my mission brain is in place and I can't. But wouldn't it be nice if we could just ask for anything and it would happen. Like hey, I want some bananas. Then they appear. That would be the dream. What I've found more often than not is that...it works! It truly does! Haha. No I do not ask God for bananas but I do know  "that whoso believeth in Christ,  doubting nothing , whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him: and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth"  ( Mormon 9:21 ). Pretty cool scripture right? Probably one of my favorites right now.  Future too bright. Cant open my eyes. Hair in my face. Accurate description of my life.  If we doubt
