See a Need. Fill the Need.

Aloha familia y amigos!
How I love these "onions" of Bermy so much! Even if they tell us, missionaries, that if we go back to the states being able to fit the same clothes then they havent done their job of feeding. I mean who even knew that Bermudians existed? Certainly not I, until I came on a mission. But ah how I love them and am so grateful for this opportunity I have to serve alongside these people.
Meet one of our members, Andrew! Such a kind and pure heart. |
I do not know the meaning of all things, but I do know that God loves His children. His son, Christ, is our shepherd and we can have our "hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another" (Mosiah 18:21). Our hearts are knit and bound by and through the love of Christ. His love and grace is sufficient for us all. His love expounds greater than any earthly sphere and provides the light we need to dispel darkness and fear.
As for His fold, we know that "he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice" (John 10:4). It may be direct. It may be indirect. It may be sudden. It may be gradual. But His sheep. Will. Know. His. Voice. That is a promise and a tender mercy that we know to be true.
This past week, I've had so many opportunities to see and spread the light of Christ and serve alongside those who emulate this light. From feeding the homeless 6am one morning, to putting up decorations in an elderly couple's home, to working at a Christian church's Christmas store - the light of Christ truly has flooded this island. This is Christmas. Our Savior performed the greatest act of love by dieing for us all; in return, we show our greatest act of love by feeind His sheep. People will see us in light of the gospel and desire to come closer unto their shepherd and that is one of the greatest gifts and acts of service we could possibly give to our fellow brothers and sisters.
As we turn outwards and work with haste but speak by grace, we will be filled with the love of God and the light of Christ. Our physical and spiritual eyes will be opened to the needs of those around us and will be able to truly love as God loves. Our burdens will become manageable and we will be refined into the person we are to become. We will rejoice. Rejoice and shout, for how great is our God.

Randoms:
1) We were supposed to meet with our little Indian man. But things got confusing. As we were waiting for the bus that night, he came walking down the street! We find out that even though he doesnt understand English that well, he listens to the Book of Mormon every night when he cooks. He cant get work off for Sunday but when he goes back to India to visit his family, he promised to go to church and take his family! Yay! Also. We found a Hindi speaking member in Utah is helping us teach him. The Lord is great.
2) Drove around Saturday morning with some members passing out food to the homeless in Hamilton. Literally they would shout to the people: "Aye!! You hungry?". Haha so good.
3) Our sacrament room transformed into a Christmas party room and the play was complete with a live dog playing a sheep! #cuzcan
4) Was a woman in our branch's birthday. This old lady is a trouble maker. We doorbell ditched her at night bearing gifts. My companion was too scared to get caught. I, of course, love this stuff. Dressed up all in black and went for it. Good times haha. And no I did not get caught ;)
5) Finally had the Bermudian dish...casava pie. Don't be fooled it is not actually sweet. But savory. I do not even know what was in it. But it sure was ono!
6) Last night we missed our bus by 2 minutes and would have to wait another hour or so for the next one. It started pouring. Luckily the senior couple, the Moss', just got their license and kindly drove to the other side of the island to save us! What blessings that they finally got their license! (ps Light the World was featured in the island's newspaper! yay!)
7) Also...you know you went to Kamehameha when you look at the calendar and automatically are like oh its almost Ke Ali'i Pauahi's birthday haha #forever indebted
