Time to Light Bermuda :-)
Congrats to Shae and Janae :) |
Aloha familia a me amigos ;)
Nope still don't speak Spanish. Don't get too excited over there. Lol.
Anyways! It's December! The sun is shinning, the work is progressing, miracles are being made, and as I told President in my interview last night via videocalling, despite numbers being not so high we're just "keeping the vibe alive" out here :)
THE most beautiful baptismal font in the world :) |
Time time time. Timing is everything. Despite being on an island...we don't run on island time we run on the Lord's timing. With it being December (already holy cow), that's something that has been imprinted in my mind greatly lately. In a talk that President Teuscher has been having us read called "Jesus: The Perfect Leader" by President Spencer W. Kimball in August 1979 we learn: "Wise time management is really the wise management of ourselves". Can I get an amen to that? Amen.
Bananas havent been able to be shipped to the island for the past 3 weeks :( a member gave us fig bananas! I was stoked! |
Managing my time wisely is a skill I am still yet seeking to develop. Sometimes I feel like it's something I'm working on like getting closer to God...it's going to take a lifetime to accomplish but will always be worth it. In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we learn that "to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven". There's a season and reason to everything. There's a reason that the Lord has given us this technology today. I know that it is to truly further His work and to reach out to more and more people in a more effective and productive manner.
Thus with the church's Light The World initiative blowing up the world right now, Sister Howells and I had the idea of blowing up the island with something we like to call Light Bermuda. We created a Facebook page entitled "Light Bermuda" it will be used as the buzzfeed of service opportunities and experiences to educate, inspire, uplift, and edify Bermudians. We presented this to the branch yesterday in Sunday School and emphasized to them that we NEED them. We are just six missionaries on the island and can't possibly reach everyone. But with their help we can (this is just like any missionary work anywhere, we can't do this on our own...member are imperative to the Lord's work)!
I know with all my heart that as we keep up with the Lord and His work especially in using the technology we have been given, we will see and feel success in our hearts and the lives of those around us. And I'm not just saying that for missionaries but I'm saying this to everyone. Use this technology for good. Use it wisely. Use it to spread the light of Christ!
And to end on a quote from an elderly woman in our relief society lesson yesterday: "les gets crackin' people".
This took much longer than it should've to make lol but all in all worth it |
**GO LIKE AND FOLLOW OUR FACEBOOK PAGE @ LIGHT BERMUDA AND LET (if you happen to have) YOUR FRIENDS IN BERMUDA KNOW BOUT IT (please and thank you :) !
(also as missionaries we will be doing a series of "Citizens of Bermuda" which will be similar to "Humans of New York" so stay tuned and follow to really see the face and culture of Bermudians)

Randoms:
1) Forgot my bus pass at home but the bus driver was so kind to let me still ride. Started talking to this Indian man. Got his number. Started teaching him. He loves the Book of Mormon. So sweet. But there is a slight language barrier since he speaks Hindi...but thank goodness for Temple Square sisters
2) Stayed an hour later after to church to work on the computer. We leave. For some reason turn right even though we were supposed to go left. This girl sitting down asks us if we are from SLC and we are like wait what. Turns out shes been talking to some temple square sisters for the past couple of months and just moved here to take care of her dad for a few months and is moving to SLC in May and is really interested in learning more! Way way cool. People truly are being prepared :)
3) Two of the Elders people they have been teaching for awhile got baptized on Saturday! It was THE perfect weather. Sun was actually out and the water at Jobson's cove was crystal blue!! So so proud of Shae and Janae!
4) One night it was extremely windy and cold. We had pants from doing service earlier in the day sooo...we put them under our skirts and rolled them up to try keep warm lol. Check out the pic below.
5) Picked some ti leaves at a church to make some lei for the baptism. Meanwhile there were these guys digging up this grave. Went over to them. Turns out that because Bermuda has so little of land, they dig up graves, take out the deroded coffin, put the bones in a black trash bag and then put it back in the grave. I was in amazement. What a job to have.
6) KBB...is Keep Bermuda Beautiful (rather than kauai boiz boiz #iykyk)
LOL. too windy. puts on pants under dress to keep warm #bluelight |
