You's Nothing Without Charity. 555555
Sister Pennock and I at the start of our crazy Valentine's day by a moon gate on Cambridge Resort and Spa |
Aloha Family a me Friends!
This week...
Cut 5 onions without crying at Meals on Wheels
Heartattacked 5(x2) people's homes on Valentine's Day
Found 5 Indian men to teach (Indians are scattered Israel fyi)
Walked 5 too many miles on Valentine's Day (mightve killed my companion haha)
5 (minus 1) friends that I taught got baptized in Harlem and India this weekend
And roughly ate 5 loquats a day
...5555555 as my brother would always say since that translates to "hahahaha" in Thai. Well what a week :)
Additionally we have found this book that talks all about being Bermudian and it said something I thought was applicable: "If your favorite fruit is a loquat...from someone else's tree, you must be a Bermudian". Haha I guess Sister Pennock and I are halfway there with all the fruit we eat as we walk around the island.
Moreso along this ifs and yous theme, this week I studied charity and in 1 Corinthians 13 and Paul says in verse 2 "And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing". Pretty straight forward I thought. If you don't have charity you are nothing. Ah....
Interviews with President Tesucher! Yay ! |
Thus, on my quest to obtain charity, I studied a talk that President Tesucher gave to us this week it said: "Only when we see through Heavenly Father’s eyes can we be filled with “the pure love of Christ"" (Elder Renlund, Through God's Eyes). BOOM. Truth and answers from on high. God's timing and everything is so perfect. Haha. But really. This is what has been impressed on my mind this week. Only when we start to see each other as God sees His children, will we have this charity or pure love of Christ and be filled with everlasting joy! Day by day I am able to see His children as He does. God doesnt see us as we are (quite frankly we have many many flaws) but rather He sees the potential that we have to become. He sees you as His literal son or daughter and He will do EVERYTHING in His power to help you become who you are meant to become. Now isn't that just amazing? Truly, how great is our God.
Love you all.
Randoms:
1) Ope. I'm sure y'all heard already but I get to call the ohana weekly. Isnt that crazy. Hahaha this are changing faster than we know it.
2) No effort wasted. Yesterday morning got the most surprising text ever. Remember the little Indian man that I taught a few months ago and found on a bus and got his number in like one stop? Yea. He went home to India for two months and yesterday morning he sent pictures of him at church....GETTING BAPTIZED. How crazy. So stoked for him to come back to Bermuda and be a nice member present for all our Indians Sister Pennock and I are now teaching haha.
3) ALSO. A cute little spanish family I taught back in Harlem got baptized this past weekend as well. Theyre just the cutest. What a happy happy weekend. Love them so much :)
4) Ripe Loquat = mix between orange and a pear. Not ripe loquat = mix between a pear and a lemon. Still real good especially when youre just walking down the street and want something to eat lol
5) Met with this man. We werent allowed to go into his home so he brought all his furniture out and brought lunch out for us. He then basically bashes us about our religion. Ah people and their agency dont you just love it haha. Well. At least we got a good meal.
6) Our friend Teresa is getting baptized this week Saturday and she already invited five friends to her baptism. What a missionary already.
7) Sister Pennock and I took ourselves out to dinner on Valentines day because we didnt have time to go home that evening. Lol. It was hilarious. Complete with the waiter giving us a couples menu and wine on the table. Good times. Good laughs.
8) Teaching people from India, Kenya, Russia, Egypt, Brazil, Azores, and Jamaica. Who would've thought I'd meet so many different people from different backgrounds. It is so cool.
9) Had interviews with President Tesucher last night and gosh do I love that man! When he asked if there was anything he could do for me I was like "You and your wife could come down more often. I miss you guys". I really am grateful for them and all that they do for the missionaries and the people of NYC, Connecticut, and Bermuda.
10) OH! Sister Pennocks parents surprised us and sent us flowers on Valentines Day. It was the cutest thing ever. She was so happy. So naturally I was happy as well.
