Sister Ellis the Elf

Sister Tsifanay and I at the Manhattan Temple (unplanned matching hehe)

Aloha Family a me Friends,

Tender mercies from an investigator :)
As I have been adjusting to my life here in the Bronx. I have realized more and more that I am like Buddy the Elf from the popular movie Elf. Buddy travels from a place no one really knows of (the North Pole) through the swirly twirly gumdrop forest to NYC. I have traveled from a far away little island that no one has really been to or heard of (even though many people continue to try and convince me that I'm from China) to NYC. Buddy goes with his dad to work, wearing a similar long black coat, and says hi to everyone that his dad says hi to. I wear a long black coat just like Sister Combe and at church especially say hi to everyone that she says hi to. Buddy discovers for the first time what a heater is and that the weird scary sounds are made from this heater. I (for some reason) have never seen a heater in real life, so I was very intrigued with the heaters we have in our apartment and Sister Combe warned me that they were hot (right before I almost touched it lol i know i know sometimes im not that smart). Buddy is ALWAYS happy and singing and spreading joy to everyone and everyone he meets notices it. Sister Combe and I are often singing or humming church hymns or just smiling and saying hi to random people and always trying to be as happy as we can be because we sure do have an amazing message to share!!

I have come to the conclusion that I am Sister Ellis the Elf. Lol. I'm sure you all enjoyed my little logic right there.

I'm running a little short on time because Sister Combe and I somehow got off at the wrong station earlier today and while we were trying to get to Target we ended up on the other side of the Hudson River in Harlem...hahah it was a nice laugh!

Got to see my favorite Sister Stegall at New Missionary Meeting

Meet Chastity. Shes 9. Shes one of our investigators.
She reminds me a ton of my sister Abby and cousin Leimana. I love her.

Stare-down with a black squirrel. I won if you were all wondering

I will say this. There is never a dull or boring moment here. I love the Bronx. I love the people. I love missionary work. The field is so white and so ready to harvest. There are so many people who are prepared and ready to hear of the message of the restored gospel and feel of their Savior's love for them. I'm stoked.

Spiritual Thought:
"Believe in God; believe that he is and that he created all things both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend"

Many of you may know that one of my favorite words is believe. This comes from a quote that carried me through my seasons of running cross country and track and it goes like this: "God has given me the ability, the rest is up to me. Believe, Believe, Believe" - Billy Mills. I learned how to believe in myself, believe in my training, believe in my coaches, believe that I will get through a workout, believe that I can not control everything that happens, believe that I put forth my best effort every single race.

Now. I am learning how to believe in miracles, believe that I have the confidence to go out and serve, believe that God will keep me safe and protected, believe that as I study my scriptures the Lord will give me the words to say, and believe that God's will will be done and it will be glorious indeed.

Me ke aloha,
Sister Ellis

Believe Believe Believe

(Also happy pi day. Also to my fellow kamehameha students: happy song contest week enjoy it while it lasts :) )
