Chilly Miracles

This week I am fearlessly protecting my Kings Hawaiian Sweet Bread against snow and people on the bus

Aloha Family a me Friends,

Just when I thought spring was coming, New York winter strikes back yet again. It's been pretty chilly but when you layer up on tights and are running as fast as you can after a train in a pencil skirt in a snow storm, it doesn't seem that cold after all.

The nice thing about NYC is that there are SO many people here and thus SO many people to teach. The tricky thing is that there are SO many people that it becomes evermore imperative to find those with real intent and who will receive this message so that as missionaries we can effectively use the Lord's time. To use the Lord's time effectively requires you to inquire with the Lord effectively.

And so comes the power of sincere prayer.

I promise you will receive answers from the Lord when you pray for specific righteous desires with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Sister Combe and I earnestly pray to find those with real intent and guess what??!! Through the grace of God we are finding those people! Let me just tell you about a quick miracle named Brenda.

We were walking on the street and then hear this woman running after us. She catches up and is like "Are you the Mormons?! I have been looking for you guys for 15 YEARS!" Like whaaaaat!! This woman has been looking for this church for almost as long as my younger brother has been alive. How crazy is that.

We met with her later that night and as I heard her story and all she's been through I just sat there with tears rolling down my cheeks. This woman has been waiting so long to taste of the joy and sweetness and power of the Atonement and I CAN NOT wait to help her come closer to Christ and have a new life. She is so amazing and tells us that the joy and peace she feels when we come over is something she has been missing in her life. Guys, my heart has been so happy.

Classic Sister Ellis Story:
Every other day me and Sister Combe take turns carrying our phone and thus directing each other. Sunday it was my turn. And for those who don't know I sometimes am directionally impaired ecspecially when it comes to public transportation. Anyways the bus was packed. There were no seats available. Its 7pm in the Bronx. The bus driver is driving like a maniac and I am just barely able to reach the hand holds and I'm trying not to fall on the blind man and 10 year old girl sitting down near me. I was so concerned about standing that I completely forgot where we were supposed to get off. We end up getting onto the highway and I look at Sister Combe and I'm like uhhhh where are we. Dang. Facepalm. Dont worry we got to our appointment on time and figured it all out. God is good :)

Spiritual Thought:
23 For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.

We know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has never left nor forgotten any of His children. Just as He has performed miracles in the Bible and Book of Mormon, He continues to perform miracles in our lives, and better yet He will perform miracles forevermore.

I see miracles every single day of the mission and I know that the Lord performs miracles in each of your lives as well. Take the time to recognize them and recognize the grace and power of our Heavenly Father. You wont regret it.

Last week...Sister Bandeaux made one year and I made one month. Lol

Last week I was eating a salad in Central Park

Me ke aloha,

Sister Ellis
