Blessed To Be Alive Today

Image
District Pics? More like Missionaries-In-The-Kingsbridge2ndWard Pics! Yes.  We have 10 missionaries and a senior couple in ONE ward haha.  We come from Hawaii, Utah, Cali, Idaho, Madagascar, Congo, Germany, and Finland!  Aloha Family a me Friends, Haha. Don't worry everyone nothing scary happened. I'm safe. I just feel blessed to be alive today.  I definitely could NOT have lived in the 1800s when the pioneers were crossing the plains. I also definitely could NOT have served a mission without technology (props to all those who did though). Having your area book, planner, google maps, and Mormon Message videos on a phone and tablet is a must and a blessing. I know I know such first-world, 21st-century type of problems. But technology is great and this past week I have seen how awesome technology is in furthering God's work!!    Facebook: A place pre-missionary I would waste waaay too much time tagging friends and my brother in pointless posts and watch a

Wag your Tail and Walk By Faith

Every holiday should be celebrated. Especially St. Patricks Day. Aloha Family a me Friends, Sad news first:  on Monday  night our family dog, Sherpa, passed away.  I believe we can learn something from everyone that comes into our lives; even if it's from an 11 year old dog from Australia. So this email will be a little combination of my week and things I've learned from Sherpa (hope you all don't mind going down memory lane with me :) )! Blind? Deaf? Still Wag Your Tail. Sherpa came to the Bronx with me hehe Towards the end of his life Sherpa was deaf, blind, had cancer, had skin and ear infections, had Cushion's disease, had bad hips, got a toe amputated, was overweight, and the list goes on. But despite all this he still wagged his tail and lived life to the fullest.  Language. I only speak English and some Hawaiian. So when I went on an exchange with Sister Tsifanay and all of our lessons were in French I was in an adventure. I did my be

Sister Ellis the Elf

Sister Tsifanay and I at the Manhattan Temple (unplanned matching hehe) Aloha Family a me Friends, Tender mercies from an investigator :) As I have been adjusting to my life here in the Bronx. I have realized more and more that I am like Buddy the Elf from the popular movie  Elf.  Buddy travels from a place no one really knows of (the North Pole) through the swirly twirly gumdrop forest to NYC. I have traveled from a far away little island that no one has really been to or heard of (even though many people continue to try and convince me that I'm from China) to NYC. Buddy goes with his dad to work, wearing a similar long black coat, and says hi to everyone that his dad says hi to. I wear a long black coat just like Sister Combe and at church especially say hi to everyone that she says hi to. Buddy discovers for the first time what a heater is and that the weird scary sounds are made from this heater. I (for some reason) have never seen a heater in real life, so I was

Chilly Miracles

This week I am fearlessly protecting my Kings Hawaiian Sweet Bread against snow and people on the bus  Aloha Family a me Friends, Just when I thought spring was coming, New York winter strikes back yet again. It's been pretty chilly but when you layer up on tights and are running as fast as you can after a train in a pencil skirt in a snow storm, it doesn't seem that cold after all.  The nice thing about NYC is that there are SO many people here and thus SO many people to teach. The tricky thing is that there are SO many people that it becomes evermore imperative to find those with real intent and who will receive this message so that as missionaries we can effectively use the Lord's time. To use the Lord's time effectively requires you to inquire with the Lord effectively.  And so comes the power of sincere prayer. I promise you will receive answers from the Lord when you pray for specific righteous desires with a broken heart and a contrite spir
