Pure n Perfect. Simple n Sharp.
Aloha family a me friends,
No testimony is too simple or short. Every testimony when borne from the heart is sincere and sharp enough to pierce a soul. Pure testimony comes in many shapes, forms, and styles.
- Grandma Debbie, a random woman who was decked out in Jesus Christ attire (jesus hat, shirt, pin, bracelet) and could not stop smiling and singing her testimony! When she said that she hopes to see us again I told her "oh yea we are. We'll even go party it up with our ressurected bodies with Jesus! Amen?! Amen!". As we got onto the bus and drove away, she proceeded to wave and blow kisses at us and yell "We are ambassadors in Christ!!!". She's a crazy lady. Then again so am I.
- Started talking to this lady on the bus. Found out that she was homeless and has had a rough life. Read Alma 18:32 with her and told her how much I knew that God knows her and the desires of her heart. When she looked up to leave she had tears rolling down her face and just said "I pray to God I see you again. Because of you, I know He's real". My heart was touched more than I touched hers.
- We felt very prompted to knock this door in a building. A group of women invited us in. We thought we were joining a bible study group but turns out we just walked into their church which was like 9 old women. They had a pastor and everything. Sister Dunne was freaking out thinking of everything bad that could happen. I enjoyed myself and told her we will bear testimony before we leave. We bore our testimonies boldly and answered their questions. To our surprise they clapped, loved us, and prayed over us. We are friends now.
- Our wonderful 82 year old Jamaican-hardcore-Bible lady that we tracted into, randomly showed up to church yesterday 30 minutes early and went up to bear her testimony. She literally sung at the top of her lungs about how much she loves God. It was so great. Everyone in the ward was looking at us lol. It was a very proud moment to be her missionaries :)
The testimonies of these people are to music to my soul. These are the people I've been called to and boy do I love them with every ounce of my heart. The joy I feel to hear and bear testimony is too great to NOT be the Lord's work.
The Prophet Joseph Smith delcared: "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!" (Doctrine and Covenants 76:22)
Randoms:
1) A Member took us to a Dominican Japanese restaurant. It was called "Mama Sushi" and we had plantains and pineapples and what not in the sushi haha
2) Went to 2 Bros Pizza to grab a pizza for our last district council. The cashier looks at us and asks for us to join and willing gave us her information AND she was YSA age. PMG is right, people truly do recognize us as servants of the Lord. #foodmiracles
3) Walking down the street and from across the way we hear "Sister Dunne and Bubbles!!!!!". Remember those bible study ladies? Ohhh yeah. We look over and we see a group of 6 old woman under an umbrella waving like crazy. We go over and they are like "my babies my babies" haha also yes they decided to call my bubbles because I'm apparently very bubbly lol. Also I had JUST enough cards to give to each of them. One of them is prepared for the restoration I just know it.
4) Got transfer calls...I'm staying in Harlem! But only over the YSA Ward! I'm praying really hard that the Elders will take good care of all the families and women we are working with since we will now only have one set of Elders in the family ward and one set of Sisters in the YSA Ward. Tears were shed, many of our people we teach are very confused and not so happy but all is well and all is in God's hands :-)
5) A woman we teach took us out to lunch today since we will no longer be teaching her. She's legit my best friend. She gives me so much sass. I was looking forward to it like all week lol pics to come sooooon
6) Met a lady on the train. She lives in Richmond Virginia. Called up the missionaries there to give them the information..turns out to be someone I knew from BYU. What a small world.
Me ke Aloha,
Sister Ellis
