One Love, One Church
Aloha family a me friends,
Wow. What a week. Or should I say what a weekend?! Starting with the Church's "Be One" celebration on Friday night (to commemorate 40 years of Africans having the Priesthood) all the way to the moving youth devotional urging youth to do what is necessary to enlist in the Lord's batallion. Wow. Sooo good. My heart couldnt take it all so I'm gonna share some of my takeaways. But like Elder Holland has said before...good thing President Nelson's a heart surgeon. ;)
**(I urge you all to go watch both of these programs if you havent! Lds.org ! Check em go check em go)
The time is now. The time is now to know your worth, know what necessary changes are to be made, know your personal mission and what the Lord would have you do today. Many times we feel inadequate to fulfill such missions from the Lord or fail to even recognize our divine potential. Maybe that's not you but I can tell you that it's been me many times. But I find strength and comfort through prayer and scriptures.
In Isaiah 6:8 it states
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
"Here am I, [Sister Ellis]; send me."
"Here am I, [insert your name here]; send me."
In the premortal existence this is what we told the Lord. We choose to be on the Earth at this glorious time to bring about His work and glory. We stood up for truth and righteousness knowing that we would face trials and triumphs. And you know what? God's the same for eternity. We MADE the choice before to stand as an advocate for Christ and we MAKE the same choice every single day.
As we make this choice we magnify the our effectiveness with the Lord's time and know our divine worth so much more and simply become one. One with the Father, one with my companion, one with myself. There is such strength that is derived from becoming one. We know ourselves and how we can build up God's kingdom.
I know without a doubt that this IS Christ's church and that every ONE who comes unto Him has a place in it. He invites us to come unto Him ONE by ONE. And by the strength of ONE comes the power of God.
Randoms:
1) As a district/ward we got 15 investigators to church, as a Bronx zone we got 44 to church. Nine of which were Sister Felix and I's investigators. It was as she said "bomb diggity" hahah
2) We moved apartments last Monday. Was a real adventure. Two girls each attempting to carry 100 lbs of stuff up and down subway stairs and around town. Needlesss to say I woke up the next morning extra beat haha
3) Walking on the street. Saw a sale of 10 bananas for $1! Extremely tempted to stop and buy some but I opted to wait until later on in the day. We get to the church later on and a member comes in from literally tons of hands of bananas. And guess what. Got 20 bananas for freeee. #blessings
4)During the devo last night, a Spanish member started passing out bags of popcorn and cookies and ice cream. Spanish wards know whats up
5) Went tracting on the streets. Starting talking to a woman on her porch who thought we were from the census. She proceeds to call her kids and their friends. One of the friends turns out to be one of our investigators hahah what a small world.
6) Sister Felix is recovered from her surgery...my jaw is starting to hurt. I didnt know wisdom teeth were contagious. Lol stay tuned.
7) ALSO. Ho'omaika'i to all my friends who graduated/are graduating this upcoming week. Choke aloha to you all :-)
